Role – User Experience Designer
Responsible for ideation, logo, illustration, sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and flowchart. Software: Photoshop, illustrator, and Sketch.
The purpose of this project is to create a tailored web platform that showcases SalsaGrill’s New BBQ Sauce and Rubs.
The bottled products are just the next step in the restaurant’s history of good taste. The sauces and rubs are made for Beef, Chicken, and Pork.
The product will be sold in local food stores and on Amazon.
Personas
I created three personas who would purchase the product based on first-round testing and created a scenario upon which the SalsaGrill Web platform prototype would benefit the product overall. Testing, was based on in-person and email interviews and I was able to target the type of problems people may encounter when purchasing the product online.
Dan - Persona 1
Age: 32
Location: Kansa City, Kansas
Occupation: Computer analyst
Income: 100k yearly
Education: Master's degree
Marital Status: Married
Motivations
Dan is a married man and father of three children aged 10 to 16. His wife is a school administrator, and they both enjoy entertaining their friends and neighbors with good food.
Challenges
He prefers to buy products in the store but may purchase it online if on sale. Enjoys trying out new flavors of sauce and rubs that appeal to him due to taste and ingredients.
Decision Making
Dan is a label reader and prefers to feed his family with wholesome products. He often shops at farmers markets and food stores that cater to quality ingredients. He uses charcoal and hardwoods in his grill.
Barbara - Persona 2
Age: 40
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Occupation: Professor
Income: 80k yearly
Education: Master's degree
Marital Status: Married
Motivations
Barbara enjoys making oven barbeque. Her husband barbecues on the patio in good weather, but she makes oven style barbeque more often.
Challenges
She shops for products that are on sale and frequently uses coupons. Prefers to buy in the store.
Decision Making
Barbara prefers to purchase products her family likes and that are on sale and she makes a grocery list and stocks up.
Miguel - Persona 3
Age: 63
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Occupation: Retired sheet metal worker
Income: 55k yearly
Education: Associates degree
Marital Status: Married
Motivations
Miguel is retired and enjoys barbequing almost six times a month. Besides making barbecue that requires sauce, he grills shish-kabobs, vegetables and has tried pizza and fruits.
Challenges
He enjoys trying out new flavors of sauce and rubs that appeal to him due to taste and ingredients. He also makes his own rub. Also, he may buy online.
Decision Making
Miguel is retired person and has time to shop around for quality products and uses a gas grill.
The Product Journey
The SalsaGrill platform is in concept form.
Next Steps
Completing prototypes, reiterating prototypes, making sauce prototypes, in-store product testing (within 100 miles), product iteration and fundraising. In the future, a sauce for game and a cookbook are envisioned.
